Principal's Message
Ms. Shuchi Shukla
Principal, Kanakia International School - IB, Chembur
Kanakia International School is a community that fosters creativity by allowing students to explore their latent talents and draw from each other’s academic and co-curricular passions. We provide the perfect springboard for our students to emerge as principled, balanced, knowledgeable, caring, inquirers, thinkers, communicators, open minded, risk-takers, and reflective-learners who are ready to face the world!
IB Curriculum at Kanakia International School
The IB board at Kanakia International School offers four challenging and top-notch educational programmes to accommodate the board’s worldwide community of schools. These four programmes include the primary year programme, middle year programme, diploma programme, and career-related programme.
(Age: 3 to 6 years)
Lay the foundation for your child’s lifelong love of learning. Our early year learning or pre-primary curriculum is specially designed for young explorers aged 3-6 years. This critical phase of education sets the stage for future academic success, social skills, and emotional intelligence.
Primary Year Programme (PYP)
(Age: 6 to 12 years)
Primary year programme or PYP lays the stepping stone for your child’s lifelong learning journey. This programme aims to develop caring and culturally aware individuals who actively participate in learning. IB-PYP is an inquiry based programme that promotes a curious and transdisciplinary curriculum framework to build conceptual understanding in young learners. The PYP students take initiative, responsibility, and leadership of their own learning, this develops knowledge, clears concepts, and fosters skills. Fostering the same philosophy, Kanakia International School aims at embedding values of self learning, independence, and collaboration through our articulately developed curriculum.
Middle Year Programme (MYP)
(Age: 11 to 16 years)
The middle year programme or MYP builds a firm academic foundation that aims at developing children’s confidence in managing their learning. Students learn to make correlations between their classroom learning and the real world during this programme. IB’s MYP is a challenging framework that aims at making practical connections between the real world and the IB curriculum. The MYP is a five-year programme comprising eight subject groups that aim to provide balanced education for early adolescents.
International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE)
(Age: 14 to 16 years)
The upper secondary years are a defining phase in a student’s educational journey. At Kanakia International School, we believe this stage should do more than prepare students for examinations—it should equip them with the skills, confidence, and global outlook needed to succeed in university and beyond.
This is where the Cambridge IGCSE Upper Secondary Programme truly stands apart. While national curricula such as CBSE and ICSE offer a strong academic base, Cambridge IGCSE provides an internationally benchmarked, skills focused education that prepares students for a rapidly changing world and serves as an excellent foundation for the IB Diploma Programme (IBDP).
Diploma Programme (IB-DP)
(Age: 16 to 19 years)
The diploma programme or IB-DP is a future-ready programme planned to build students’ curious minds and foster a desire to learn. This programme prepares learners to lead meaningful lives and excel in their careers. Students get to pick one subject from six different subject groups during the diploma programme.

In the past our students have interacted with some of the most famous personalities like Mr. Kapil Dev, Mr. Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, Mr. Rakesh Maria and Mr. Aaditya Thackeray.
KMUN - Kanakia Model United Nation
At Kanakia International School’s Model United Nations (KMUN), the club aims to foster creativity through innovative approaches in organising and executing the event. Our learner’s objective was to ensure that every aspect of KMUN was infused with creativity, from the selection of committee topics to the implementation of advanced technologies. This initiative sought to encourage participants to think critically and creatively about global issues, providing them with a platform to express their unique perspectives and develop innovative solutions.
To further elevate the MUN experience, learners incorporated cutting-edge technologies such as virtual reality simulations, interactive voting systems, and digital collaboration tools. These technologies provided a modern twist to traditional MUN activities, making the event more immersive and interactive. By integrating these tools, we aimed to create an environment that not only reflected the realities of contemporary international relations but also prepared students for the technological advancements shaping our world.
